47 years ago, in this week back in season 1970/1971, Salgotarjan suffered their first home defeat against Videoton. Press reports from that game mentioned that the result was justified as an enthusiastic Vidi team went home with the points. No other side had managed to win at the home of SBTC until this game and Vidi were not the favourites at kick off. There were no goals in the first half with the breakthrough arriving on 57 minutes. Nagy showed good skill to get in between the defenders, before powerfully finding the bottom right corner (0-1). The home side levelled after 70 minutes with a Basti goal from 17 meters with his shot hitting both posts before finally going in (1-1). A big defensive mistake after 75 minutes resulted in the winning goal for Videoton. Baranyai tried to head the ball back to his keeper, but he did not realise that Bodnar was ready to pounce. The Videoton player elegantly lifted the ball over Szoke in the home goal to make it (1-2). Szabo in the Videoton goal had a comfortable game and was on hand to save one or two efforts. There were good performances from defenders Posch and Kovacs. Mester in midfield worked hard. 18 year Nyitrai was making his first appearance in the NBI and he did not disappoint with a good game. The best forward was Nagy who fought and did well throughout. Karsai behind him was another to give a good performance. Bodnar was also praised for his role in the winning goal - claimed reports in the Nogradi Journal - October 15th edition.

1990 - The paperwork remains at home

NB I 1990/1991 - match 9
Székesfehérvár, Sóstói Stadium, Att: 5000 néző (The majority were refunded after the game)
Saturday 13th October 1990, 17:00
Videoton-Waltham SC - Békéscsabai EESC 3-0

The visiting Bekescsaba side forgot to bring their paperwork with and the game was postponed as a result.

27 years ago, There were very strange and unusual circumstances before the game at the Sostoi stadium in Szekesfehervar. Vidi were to be awarded two important league points against Bekescsaba. The events unfolded with the visiting team forgetting their team paperwork. That meant that the referee could not start the game. The visiting sides technical manager, Sandor Such, who worked within the game for 15 years and had been in his current job since 1985 remembers back to that day: At 2.15pm, I realised when we were around 15-20km from Szekesfehervar, that the book with the players details was not in the bag. We stopped at the first parking place but there wasn't a telephone there, which is why we decided to continue on and try and get the help of the local police. That would give us the best chance and quickest mode to get in touch with someone back at our club. This happened and I contacted the person who knew where the paperwork was. Naturally this was done at my expense, and to try and bring that book with the help of a police escort at the quickest possible time. The Bekescsaba Police said that they would gladly help, but that their services does not allow for such situations. I then phoned Mr Janos at 2.45pm to try and find a taxi and bring the paperwork here. I also spoke to Nandor Hidegkuti at the Hungarian FA, and he also tried to help us. Unfortunately time went quickly and the officials could wait no longer. The match was postponed at 17:35pm as we signed the papers in the dressing rooms. The surprise then arrived: A taxi arrived at 17:40pm with the paperwork. We started to run around but it was no no avail. It really was a strange day in the end" - is how the local Bekes county journal covers that story on the 15th October.

18 years ago, A big game was played on the 11th October on a Monday evening. The league season that year was known as the Professional International league. It was perhaps the final big derby game of that century at the Sostoi stadium. The two sides played their football in the second tier that season but both teams included several former first division players. Vidi went into the game with a 5 points lead over at the top of the league table. It was a match that would be littered with missed chances. There were two completely different 45 minutes for the supporters to watch. A crowd of around 5,000 had turned out to watch at the Sostoi stadium that evening. The visiting side had more of the ball in the first half, and it was down to them that they did not go in at the break with the lead. A goal on 45 minutes from Zombori gave Videoton a first half lead. Vidi worked harder in the second half, but several chances were missed, but the 3 points were still secured. The memory of that day was not the game itself but the banner that the supporters had created. It would later go on to win the prize for the best banner of 1999.
